Today we are spotlighting our member Modern Vintage Events! This planning company was founded in 2011 by Becca George and Jessie Pinson.

Everyone has a unique story, and we are passionate about bringing that to life. Our calling is to create meaning for your day and build that day around your story. Because your wedding is not your cousin Jane's wedding.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

We really enjoy getting to know our couples, what motivates them and how we can bring their personalities into their wedding day. We love designing a wedding that just feels like them.

Where do you find inspiration?

We look for inspiration in places outside the wedding industry. If we have seen it on Pinterest then it has already been done and we want to look at creative ways to bring in our clients personalities. We draw a lot of inspiration from interiors, textures, nature and art.

Do you have a signature aesthetic?

We tend to lean toward a little bit fun and funky and a little bit colorful. We love textures in paper, in linens, in flowers and pretty much anywhere we can add them. While we love all things pulled together we tend to lean a bit more toward organic and free flowing. We are always up for a challenge and doing something that hasn't been done before. We love coming up with interesting installations and hanging things from the ceiling.

What are the first steps you take with new clients?

When we start planning a wedding with new clients we begin with what we call a creative session. We send them a design survey to get them thinking about not only the look but the feel of their wedding. The survey asks questions like, "what have you seen at a wedding that you loved?" and "what have you seen at a wedding that you hated?" in addition to things like what kind of food do you like and what do you do for fun. We ask them to send us inspiration photos not only from weddings but from other places like interiors, textures, landscapes, furniture and things like that. Then we sit down with them (in person or virtually) and talk through their answers. We try to get to to know them and what the most important elements of the wedding are to them. We talk through budget, aesthetics and their vision for the day.

What is one of the biggest or most important lessons you've learned since becoming an entrepreneur?

You don't get to that point where you have "made it". It is important to recognize how far you have come but to keep learning and moving forward with the industry. We really try not to look around and compare ourselves to where others are but to continue to educate ourselves and learn about technological advances in the industry and be on top of the trends.

I’m dying to take a trip to…

Becca: New Zealand.
Jessie: Spain, Thailand, Morocco.

If you owned a restaurant, what food would it serve?

Becca: Tacos and Pizza. All day long.
