Today we are spotlighting our member Simply Yours Weddings! This planning company was founded in 2008 by Emily Humphries.

I feel my job is to help relieve some of the pressure of this process and make space for couples to not just plan their wedding, but plan for their marriage. I want to help guide couples with my experience and expertise so that they can make wise choices that fit their style and their budget, but also create an environment for them to make memories with their family and friends.

What is your trademark or super power?

It matters a lot to me that people feel like I'm in their corner, not just with the logistics and big picture, but with the hearts involved. Being present for them and need anticipation tends to be where I thrive. That doesn't just mean relationally, but detail disaster prevention, guest environment management... my Dad used to call me a duck on water. Calm on top and busy keeping things moving under the surface.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

I love getting to be a part of such an incredible time of couples' lives, but my favorite moment is when I get to send the Bride down the aisle and watch her come back a wife. It’s a sacred, treasured moment, every time.

What are the first steps you take with new clients?

Depending on where they are in the process, I want to get to know them and their story, as well as their priorities for their event. I try to make sure we're being wise financially with decisions being made in regards to budget, because you can't decorate the rooms before the house is built. Then, we dive in to being able to visualize the design and environment of the experience. We also drink a lot of coffee and laugh as much as we can ;)

Where do you find inspiration?

I love the power of story. When I meet with couples, I want to be sure that I understand the things they value and have that be present in their guest's experience of their event.

What is one of the biggest or most important lessons you've learned since becoming an entrepreneur?

You have to make sure you take care of yourself. You can't run a business very well, or be present for your clients if you are burning the candle at both ends.

On my days off you can find me…

Hanging out with my two crazy kiddos and sweet husband, reading a good book, or interviewing a fun guest for my podcast, Simply Stories!

I’m dying to take a trip to…

Europe. However, with this pandemic, I'd settle for a trip to the mountains!

If you owned a restaurant, what food would it serve?

Bottomless chips and queso!
