How did you get into floral and event design? I am an accidental florist! After graduating from Belmont University in 2000 with a BA in music, I got married, and started working for a local flower wholesaler. There began my love for flowers. In 2004, when we had our first child, I began working out of our home and Vintage Florals was born. I've been working with brides and creating floral designs for weddings and events now for over 10 years and I am still learning and loving it!

Explain your process of working with a bride. One of the best, and my most favorite, aspects of my job is meeting with clients. My goal in a meeting is for the client to walk away with an excited sense of being cared for and understood in their vision of their wedding day. I will walk a bride through every floral detail, so that her vision for her event can come alive. I will then create a custom quote, detailing every item with individual pricing so that a client can "select all" or piece together what she needs according to her budget.

What is your favorite flower? It really depends on the season, but I love a fluffy peony or blush garden rose. Sweet, bendy ranunculus and scabiosa are some of my favorite accent flowers to work with as well.

What makes you different from other florist? There are so many talented florists in this town, so I only know what is true to me! I really try to get to the heart of what a bride wants for her wedding. I am careful to be in tune to a client as she responds to floral images that I show in the initial meeting. If her eyes light up, I know we’re onto something! Floral design is a big part of the wedding decor. It is one of the elements that truly represents the personality of the couple and helps to set the tone for the event. I’m passionate about making that happen!

What’s one thing you love to hear in consultation with a bride? ”I trust you, just do your thing!”!!!
