Expert Planner Panel

With all the weddings our planners attend in a year, I knew they would be the best to ask about what is trending.  Our Panel had so much to say about this week's question:

What is your favorite wedding trend for 2012 so far?

I love that the vintage rustic look is back this year! There are so many great barn venues in Middle TN to make this vision come to life!

The trend that I am loving this year is a return of elegant weddings regardless of the venue, influenced by the Royal wedding and the Lauren Bush & David Lauren weddings. You can add glamorous elements to any wedding style or location. So beautiful.

While I love wedding cake (who doesn't?), I have really enjoyed using other types of desserts at Receptions (sometimes along with the wedding cake) to give guests non-traditional options. We have so many yummy sweets here in the South it's easy to choose a dessert just as yummy as a wedding cake but also have something a little different to offer your guests.

I have seen an increase in reception dresses and shoes with my clients. As much as my brides love their wedding gowns, they want to dance without fear of ruining their dress (or wearing a mermaid style gown all evening!). They are opting for fun, sparkly cocktail dresses - in all colors, not just white - and a different pair of fabulous heels to compliment. This also gives them an opportunity to own a dress that they can wear again and say "I wore this dress on my wedding day!"

ohhhh, I have seen the most gorgeous gowns this year on my beautiful brides -- still the same designers, but more "red carpet" looks than traditional "wedding dress"... long, silhouettes covered in crystals, lace and other sheer fabrics rather than big taffeta and silk dresses. More grown-up + elegant... maybe because brides are getting married later... hmmm...
